Apranax tablet is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that relieves pain and reduces inflammation. It is effective for arthritis, muscle pain, menstrual cramps, and headaches. In this article, you will learn how it works, its side effects, and the precautions to follow.
Ingredients
Each tablet contains 550 mg of naproxen sodium.
Dosage
Adults usually take one 550 mg tablet twice a day with food. Follow your doctor’s advice.
How Does Apranax Tablet Work?
Naproxen blocks enzymes called COX-1 and COX-2, which help the body make prostaglandins. Prostaglandins cause pain, swelling, and fever, so fewer of them means less pain and inflammation. Unlike paracetamol, naproxen targets inflammation directly.
Uses of Apranax Tablet
- Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Muscle and joint pain
- Menstrual cramps
- Headache and toothache
- Gout attacks
Side Effects of Apranax Tablet
- Stomach pain, heartburn, and nausea
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Headache and dizziness
- Fluid retention and higher blood pressure
- Rare but serious: stomach bleeding, kidney problems, and a higher risk of heart attack or stroke with long use
Precautions
- Take it with food or milk to protect your stomach.
- Use the lowest dose for the shortest time. A long course raises the risk of cardiovascular problems, such as heart attack and stroke.
- Do not take it if you are allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDs.
- Do not use it right before or after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
- Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver disease, asthma, or stomach ulcers.
- Avoid it in the last three months of pregnancy.
- Do not take other NSAIDs at the same time.
Overdose and Missed Dose
If you take more than the prescribed dose, call your doctor or go to the nearest hospital, because an overdose can cause serious problems.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Never take a double dose to make up for it.
Storage Instructions
- Keep it away from children.
- Store it in a cool, dry place.
- Do not store it in a bathroom or humid place, because moisture can weaken the medicine.
