Introduction

Montika tablet is a medication used to manage and prevent asthma symptoms. It’s also effective for treating allergic rhinitis. This medication belongs to the class of leukotriene receptor antagonists, which block substances called leukotrienes in the body. These substances cause asthma symptoms and allergic reactions.

Ingredients

It contains Montekulast sodium as an active ingredient.

How Does It Work?

Mechanism of Action

It works by blocking chemical known as leukotrienes. When you breathe in an allergen, such as pollen, your body releases a specific type of chemicals known as Leukotrienes. By blocking the release of these chemicals, this medication reduces inflammation, bronchoconstriction, and mucus production. This leads to easier breathing and fewer asthma attacks.

 Montika Tablet Uses

  • Asthma:
    •  It Prevents wheezing, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, and coughing.
    • Reduces the frequency and severity of asthma attacks.
    • Prevents exercise-induced bronchospasm (breathing difficulties during exercise).
  • Allergies:
    • Relieves symptoms of seasonal allergies (hay fever) such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and congestion.
    • May also be used for year-round allergies.

Montika Tablet Off- Label Uses

Off-label drug use is when a drug is prescribed for a purpose other than what it’s approved for.

Chronic Urticaria (Hives):  This medication is sometimes used off-label to manage chronic idiopathic urticaria, particularly when antihistamines alone are insufficient.

Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema): Although not widely endorsed, some clinicians may prescribe Montika tablet for treating atopic dermatitis, particularly when it’s associated with allergic triggers.

Montika Tablet Dosage:

The dosage of this medication varies based on age and medical condition. For asthma prevention, the typical dose for adults and children over 15 is 10 mg once daily. For children aged 6-14, it is 5mg once daily.

Montika Tablet Overdose

Don’t take it more than the recommended dosage. If you have taken it more than the prescribed by the doctor. seek medical help.

Missed Dose

If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose avoid taking it. Never take two doses at the same time.

Montika Tablet Side Effects

Montika tablet is generally well-tolerated, some side effects can occur. Common side effects include

  • abdominal pain
  • flu-like symptoms.

Rare Side Effects
